Activation & Licensing¶

Zume Editor is a paid app with a free trial. You buy a subscription on our website (all platforms), and activate the app with the license key we email you.

Free trial¶

The first launch starts a 30-day free trial with all features unlocked. No account or payment is needed. When the trial ends, buy a license to keep using the editor.

Buying a license¶

Purchase on the website for $49 / year (Windows, macOS and Linux all use the website). Payments are handled by Paddle, our reseller / Merchant of Record. After payment you receive a license key by email (format ZUME-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX).

Activating¶

Open Zume Editor.
Help → Activate License.
Enter the email you purchased with and the license key.
Click Activate.

The app verifies your license online, then keeps working offline; it re-checks quietly in the background from time to time.

One license, up to 3 computers¶

A single license works on up to 3 of your own computers (any mix of Windows, macOS and Linux), for one named user. Commercial use is allowed.

Moving to another computer¶

If you reach the 3-device limit or replace a machine:

On the old computer: Help → Deactivate This Device.
On the new computer: Help → Activate License with the same email and key.

Managing or cancelling your subscription¶

Help → Manage Subscription opens your secure Paddle portal page, where you can update payment details or cancel. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

Refunds¶

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you are not satisfied, email support@smolt-stage.com within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. See Support.

When a subscription ends¶

When a subscription is cancelled or a renewal fails, the app keeps working for a short grace period, then prompts you to activate again. Your files are never locked or altered - only the editor's licensed features stop until you renew.
